An author of the invention of baby foods called Amy Bentley stated that the solid baby food to appear on the market was introduced by a man named Harold Clapp. The legend or story has it, that when Clapp’s wife got ill and could not take care or feed their baby, he developed a soup made from beef broth, vegetables and cereal a mix that worked wonders for their baby. When Clapp saw how well his baby did on the soup and how healthy he got, he began making big batches and eventually started selling it to other parents via local drugstores.
